Dan Gurney proposed that America has little following of auto racing becuase it has so many varieties and classes of high money racing.
He proposed a single big league of racing, like the Europeans have, and explained that the following of racing is so incredible in Europe, that the pinnacle is held in a country that has no stake in the race. Same for Monte Carlo.
